Welcome to The Slow Life - A village filled with calming stories for everyone. This story is called Thanksgiving Pies, and itâs about hugs and other greetings, a patient friend, and a heartwarming surprise. Each story will be read two times; a little slower on the second. The reason for the second reading is to help you fall asleep with relaxation, already knowing what happens in the story. We include white noise to avoid jarring transitions between silence and talking. Each story is written and read by Jennifer Zwicker. Sound and video editing by Jennifer Zwicker. Follow our podcast and get notified whenever we post a new story. Please, leave a 5-star rating if you enjoy it, and leave kind reviews to help us continue and to grow this podcast. I know the saying is, âCold Hands, Warm Heartâ, but I still donât love it when my hands are cold, which they always seem to be. Keep cozy with these, whether youâre curled up at home or out around the village on a winterâs morn. đ

HERE'S A BOOK I recommend: The title and cover of this book are a bit off the mark for me, but itâs whatâs inside that counts, right? I have read lots of books on mindfulness and meditation. I think this one is a good path to follow for a lot of people. Or at least a good place to start (again?). Iâve read other books and say, "Yeah, Iâm not doing this. It feels weird.â Or their method seems like too much to take on.
Emily Fletcher's technique was one of the first ones that worked for me. You donât need much patience.
People who meditate arenât magical. We all have endless thoughts in our heads. Itâs a matter of finding the right way for yourself. And, you will never get rid of all of the thoughts, but youâll learn to focus your mind on calmer things for little bits at a time. Maybe a better title for this book would have been âMeditation for Mainstream Folksâ, because itâs a good fit for those who have ever said, âOh, I canât meditate. My mind is always racing.â
