Three people have been arrested, more than 1,000 pounds of lobster seized, and 72 traps have been confiscated by federal fisheries officers. The arrests were made at Port la Tour earlier this month. The traps were seized in Lobster Fishing Area 33 for either being untagged or tagged with invalid tags. An inspection at the wharf confirmed that the landed lobster was caught by commercial harvesters using the non-compliant traps to fish more traps than they were authorized to.
