DFO Actions

It’s been a busy summer for Fisheries and Oceans officers. The department reports more than 1,000 lobster traps and more than 4,000 lobsters from traps  have been seized since the beginning of June in southwest Nova Scotia. Lobster trap seizures have been attributable to violations of licence conditions, including fishing during closed times in designated waters, failure to report lost gear, failure to tag traps, and other non-compliance issues. Some people have been arrested while other investigations continue.
